The Challenge

To ensure compliance with stringent UK environmental regulations, a newly constructed secondary containment (chemical bund) at a water processing facility required a high performance protective coating before commissioning. This specialised containment system was engineered to prevent hazardous leaks from reaching the surrounding ecosystem, providing a long term barrier that guarantees operational safety and full environmental peace of mind.

The Solution

The new concrete substrate was allowed to cure for 30 days to ensure the moisture content reached specified levels. The surface was then primed with 503 SPEP, a solvent free penetrating epoxy primer, to ensure optimal adhesion for the topcoat.

This was followed by a two coat application of Resimac 501 CRSG, which provides comprehensive chemical resistance.

Results & Benefits

  • Protect the surrounding environment from potential spillages
  • Extend the secondary containment lifespan of up 10+ years
  • Ensures compliance with relevant environmental standards
  • Delivers long term chemical protection
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Simple & fast application process
