Meet the Team: Wayne

7th November 2024

At Resimac, every team member brings unique skills that drive our growth. In this ‘Meet the Team’ series, we’re featuring Wayne Jobling, our Technical Manager. With extensive experience in the coatings industry, Wayne has played a significant role in advancing our technical capabilities and supporting the company’s expansion.

Background and Journey with Resimac

Wayne joined Resimac with over 20 years of experience in the coatings industry. Initially starting on a short-term basis to help the business over the summer, he is now Resimac’s Technical Manager, overseeing key projects and product development.

The most rewarding project I’ve worked on was creating and operating the Resimac stand at the 2024 Maintec exhibition. It generated lots of interest and was a successful project for marketing and sales.

Since joining, Wayne’s role has evolved significantly, allowing him to contribute to the company’s growth in meaningful ways.

Q&A with Wayne Jobling

What’s your favourite part of working at Resimac?

The people and the working environment. Although we all work hard in our individual roles, we are all there to help out each other when needed.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?

Films, music, the usual kind of thing. I have a Nick Cave concert I am going to soon, which I am looking forward to.

Can you share a memorable moment or achievement with your team?

Any sporting event where I didn’t come last has always been a rare success!

What personal or professional goals do you hope to achieve in the next year?

Personal: None of your business 😉. Professional: To keep on developing and hopefully launch some exciting new products to the range.

If you could master a new skill instantly, what would it be and why?

Playing the piano. It would be fun to play simple pieces of music that I enjoy listening to so much.

If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

David Bowie, Chris Waddle, and Aubrey Plaza. David Bowie and Chris Waddle were childhood heroes of mine, and Aubrey Plaza always impresses and intrigues me when I see her on TV or in films. Plus, I think the three of them would get on pretty well.

What’s something surprising about you that your colleagues might not know?

When I was younger, I used to have long hair (or any hair!).

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

The head of VAR at FIFA. I have a few changes I would like to make immediately to stop the long delays and terrible decision-making.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why?

I am not the most well-travelled person, but I have enjoyed what time I’ve spent in Italy and Thailand. Anywhere laid-back, warm, and preferably with a beach nearby would be ideal.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

You can always add a little more, but you can never take anything back out.

Looking Ahead

Excited about Resimac’s rapid growth, Wayne looks forward to furthering his professional development with a focus on bringing new products to the market.

“The rate the company is growing at is impressive, and I look forward to seeing where we’ll be in another 12 months.”

For those starting out in the field, Wayne offers this advice: Listen to those with experience and explore different roles. It’s the best way to grow and discover the path that’s right for you.
