The Challenge

A sand washer unit at a UK steel manufacturer was suffering from severe abrasion and wear due to the continuous processing of aggregates and slurry. This constant physical stress led to frequent mechanical breakdowns, which threatened the overall operational efficiency of the facility. To prevent a total production halt, the company needed a durable solution capable of withstanding such a highly corrosive and abrasive environment.

The Solution

The surface was hand sanded and degreased using an MEK cleaner to eliminate all contaminants, ensuring optimal adhesion. Resimac 209 EIP PU was brush applied onto the sand washer at a wet film thickness of 300–400 microns per layer.

To guarantee maximum wear resistance the product was applied in a two coat system. This providing the unit with a uniform high durability barrier against abrasion.
