Industry: Mining
Location: South Africa
Application: Industrial Centrifuge
Products: 201 Ceramic Repair Paste & 202 Ceramic Repair Fluid
The Challenge
Two industrial centrifuge used in cement dust handling at a mining site were experiencing severe wear due to the abrasive nature of the materials processed. This persistent abrasion led to frequent maintenance disruptions, negatively affecting operational efficiency and increasing overall costs. Having successfully utilised Resimac coatings in similar applications, the client required a dependable coating solution to withstand the harsh conditions, protect critical equipment, and reduce ongoing maintenance demands. By restoring the centrifuges’ durability, the client aimed to extend their service life and maintain uninterrupted operations.
The Solution
The industrial centrifuge surfaces were grit blasted to achieve an 80-micron profile, ensuring optimal adhesion of the protective coating. Even complex areas, such as the hard-faced steel plates, were prepared to meet the required standard.
Following surface preparation, two coats of Resimac 202 Ceramic Repair Fluid were meticulously applied, forming a durable barrier against the abrasive effects of cement dust. Damaged areas were restored using Resimac 201 Ceramic Repair Paste, reinforcing structural integrity prior to the final coating application.
