Q&A with Andrew Donald
What’s your favourite part of working at Resimac?
Having previously worked for a large multinational company with all its constraints its great to be back working for a smaller, more agile organisation where you can really build relationships with customers and implement strategies to drive growth without the need for complex plans and multi-layered approvals.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?
Cycling is a big part of my life, I spend many hours riding my road bike, I am in a local race team and participate in a number of races each year, usually Time Trials which are all about speed over a set distance, either on the flat or up a hill, this year I won a couple of local leagues and recently participated in the British National Hill Climb championships. I’m also a huge music fan, I collect vinyl records and still go to many gigs and festivals. I like hiking and wild camping, I play the guitar and bass guitar, love to cook and am quite passionate about Whisky, I’ve visited lots of Scottish Distilleries and of course enjoyed quite a few samples!
How has your role evolved since you started with the company?
We secured a significant amount of funding from the UK Water Regulator OFWAT through a program called Discovery Challenge for a development project I manage, so whilst my role is very much Business Development, I also get a chance to exercise my Project Management skills.
What personal or professional goals do you hope to achieve in the next year?
I like to set goals every year on a personal and professional level, next year on a personal level I would like to improve my performances on the bike, particularly in the National Hill climb race at the end of the year. On a professional level I would like to continue to grow our global Resiline business and introduce new products to the portfolio to cover a wider range of applications.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Work hard and play harder.
If you could master a new skill instantly, what would it be and why?
Yoga, I attend a class but Id love to be more flexible and get all the different positions and breathing techniques right to get the maximum benefit.
If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
- Tadej Pogačar – He is totally dominating world cycling and a great ambassador for the sport, Id ask him for some training tips!
- Simon Reeve – I’ve read both his books and love his tv series.
- David Gilmour – I love his music, and he could teach me some new songs on guitar.
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why?
Somewhere with a good climate and plenty of mountains for cycling and hiking, New Zealand maybe.
What are you most excited about for the future of Resimac?
We have some great new products in development and I’m looking forward to working with our global customers on potential new opportunities.
What would you say to someone just starting their career in your field?
The coatings industry is a great sector to work in, its taken me around the world and I’ve met many great people, as with everything in life you get out what you put in but there are many opportunities to develop your career.

Andrew sees significant opportunities for Resimac as it continues to grow and develop new products. With several launches and projects on the horizon, he’s focused on driving global business development and strengthening customer partnerships.
